Juan is an economist specialized in Finance and Industrial Organization. He has six years’ worth of experience as an economic analyst at Spanish and German consultancy firms, where he has partaken in numerous projects concerning regulatory and antitrust issues and arbitrage proceedings. More specifically, he has performed econometric damage estimations, market definition analyses and estimations of efficiency gains in corporate mergers. Among the sectors where he has done project work are telecoms, pharmaceuticals, transport and distribution, and the entertainment industry.
A Guatemalan native, Juan Miguel was an advisor for one of the largest private universities in the Central American region, where he coordinated a team responsible for implementing strategic, operational, and financial decision-making models. He also worked as an academic researcher for the Research Department, in a long-term research project on the sustainability of economic growth in Guatemala and its environmental impacts, with basis in the System of Environmental Economic Accounts (SEEA).
