Dr. Cain has extensive experience providing economic testimony in financial matters in US federal and state courts including the Delaware Court of Chancery.
Dr. Cain has been retained as an expert in multiple valuation matters and regularly employs event studies and other market-based methodologies to assess damages in merger disputes and securities cases.
Dr. Cain has published research on fairness opinion valuations, merger contracts and terminations, corporate governance, shareholder activism, hostile takeovers, earnout clauses and management buyouts. He has co-authored several articles on deal processes and other corporate finance topics with Steven Davidoff Solomon published in peer-reviewed journals such as the Journal of Law and Economics and theDelaware Journal of Corporate Law. His work has been cited in legal rulings and amicus briefs to the US Supreme Court.
Dr. Cain holds a Ph.D. in finance from Purdue University.
